NOTE: S&S® engines for 1984–’99 chassis with larger than 313/16" bores are typically built using special crankcases such as S&S Special Application cases which have an offset right side gear cavity for more tappet guide to cylinder clearance. S&S offers special tappet guides machined to compensate for the change in pushrod angle caused by the cam chest offset of these cases.

• 1984–‘99 big twins • S&S V-Series engines FEATURES AND BENEFITS • .123" larger in diameter than the "raceless" roller axles currently used by some manufacturers • Improved inner race-roller design allows use of more, and larger bearings to increase load-carrying surface area, further reducing stress and wear in the critical roller area • Redesigned plunger assembly better withstands forces associated with heavy-duty valve springs and cams typically used in high-performance applications • Improved metering device precisely controls oil delivery to top end, ensuring rapid lifter pump-up and reducing possibility of oil starvation to bottom end

• Each lifter body and plunger assembly is selective-fit and then leak down tested to ensure correct operation

OPTIONS • Tappets are available with the HL 2 T Limited Travel Kit for improved cold starts and high rpm valve timing accuracy

Because of close tolerances, tappets in set part #33-5353 may require slightly longer bleed down time than conventional tappets. At temperatures of 65°F and above, however, bleed-down should take 20 minutes or less using 20W50 engine oil.

HYDRAULIC LIFTER LIMITED TRAVEL SPACER (HL 2 T) Description Part # Set of four spacers (fits tappets with .612" I.D.) 33-5338 18526-89A

Extra parts needed: Adjustable pushrods must be used with HL 2 T kit in order to obtain proper plunger position. S&S HL 2 T kit will not fit the late stock replacement tappets HD#18523-86B for 1984–’99 big twins. These tappets have a smaller bore size and a larger spring diameter than earlier versions. Part #33-5338 fits tappets with .612" I.D.
